Most visitors leave a store without buying, and plenty of them liked something. A wishlist gives that interest somewhere to go: a shopper saves the product, and it's waiting when they come back. For wholesale buyers the same idea becomes a supply list, the products they reorder every month, ready to go back into the cart in one step.

We launched our wishlist app in 2024 under the name Wishlist Supply List because it was built for both. It's now called Wishlists, and this post covers how it works for each kind of buyer.

Does Shopify have a built-in wishlist?

Not for your online store. Shopify themes don't include a save-for-later list, so wishlists come from apps. For B2B, Shopify's own features include a quick order list that free Shopify themes (version 11 and later) can add in the theme editor, which lets buyers enter quantities for many variants at once. That's a good fit for ordering from a product page; a saved list is what saves buyers from rebuilding the same order every time.

One feature, two kinds of buyer

One list feature, two kinds of buyer: a retail shopper taps a heart to save, comes back later and shares the list; a B2B buyer uploads a CSV of SKUs and quantities and adds the whole order form to the cart in one go RETAIL SHOPPER Save it for later Tap the heart No account needed. Come back The list waits for them, and joins their account. Share or register Gift lists bring new buyers to your store. B2B BUYER Reorder in one go sku, quantity ABC-123,1 DEF-456,5 Upload a CSV, or fill in the order form's quantities. Add to cart Every row, one click.
Retail shoppers save for later and share. B2B buyers reorder whole lists at once.

For retail shoppers

  • Save without signing up. A heart on the product page and on collection cards saves the item straight away. Guest lists live in the shopper's browser and merge into their account when they log in, so nothing is lost.
  • Find it again. A floating icon or a header icon shows how many items are saved, and the wishlist page lets them compare, remove, or add to cart.
  • Organize and share. Shoppers can keep several lists ("Birthday ideas", "Living room"), and share a public link that anyone can open without an account.
  • Gift registries. For weddings, baby showers and birthdays, a registry tracks how many of each item have been bought, so two guests don't buy the same thing.
  • Reminders. The app can email shoppers when a saved item is back in stock, drops in price or is running low, with a weekly limit so nobody is flooded.

For B2B buyers

  • Order forms. The list becomes a form with SKU, variant options and a quantity per row, a running total, and one Add to cart button for the lot.
  • CSV import. Buyers upload a spreadsheet with sku and quantity columns, and the app matches the SKUs against your catalog and fills their list.
  • Lists that fit how teams buy. Reorder lists, project lists, a list a junior buyer builds for a manager to approve, or one assembled to request a quote.
Worth knowingCSV import matches on SKU, so it only works if your variants have SKUs that match what your buyers use. Tidy those up before you invite wholesale customers to import.

What you learn from saved items

A saved item is a strong signal: someone wanted it but didn't buy yet. The app's reports show your most-wishlisted products, the ones most often bought after being saved, the ones that sit in lists longest (often a price or timing question), and what's trending this week. You can export every saved product with its customer as a CSV for email campaigns or restock planning.

Plans

There's a free plan to start with. Multiple lists, gift registries and the B2B order forms and CSV import are on paid plans; B2B features are on the app's Plus plan, which is an app plan and not related to Shopify Plus. The Wishlists help centre shows what's on each.

Install Wishlists from the Shopify App Store to try it on your store.
